In the 1860's the San Francisco firm of Lawrence & Houseworth published several catalogs of photographs and stereographs. These came from a variety of photographers. This image was taken from a knoll above the Dutch Flat Donner Lake wagon road overlooking Dopnner Lake. Today Old Highway 40 passes around and below this spot.
