Just east of the Rainbow Inn on Old Highway 40 (Donner Pass Rd.), the South Yuba River makes its way over smooth sculpted rocks. In the fall, the river's flow is small, and peaceful. In the spring, it rages! Sometimes it floods the houses along the banks.
